Third-grade teacher Tiffany Forsythe has established a classroom economy in which students earn Forsythe Bucks for completing tasks, such as checking homework and straightening bookshelves. The tokens can be traded for items at the Forsythe General Store, such as erasers and other material things, as well as privileges, such as eating lunch with a friend. The exercise, Forsythe says, teaches students the importance of hard work and saving money.
