While it has been widely reported that the price of a college education has risen sharply over the years, the net price of college, when adjusted for inflation, has risen modestly in two decades, according to the College Board's Annual Survey of Colleges. However, students from wealthy families are more likely to pay more for college, while middle-income rates have remained about the same and students from low-income families have greater access to aid, data show.
