New York City’s 76-story, 8 Spruce Street took top honors in the Emporis Skyscraper contest for 2011. The 867-foot-tall building designed by architect Frank Gehry was recognized for its undulating steel facade and use of modern technologies. The tower "stands out even in Manhattan’s already remarkable skyline. It is a major new architectural landmark for New York," one judge said.
