It's a good idea to ask about the sales process a candidate has used in the past when you interview him or her for a job, writes Mel Kleiman of Humetrics. "If you listen closely and ask pertinent follow-up questions, you'll learn if the candidate was an order taker, a new sales hunter, or somewhere in between." Also, ask whether he or she was better at finding new clients or serving the needs of existing customers, he recommends.
