Mills College in Oakland, Calif., must make doorways wider, add handrails and grab bars, and install wheelchair ramps throughout 260 sites across its campus in a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over accessibility. The settlement makes an exception for the college's oldest buildings from the 19th century, which are designated historical landmarks but requires meetings and classes to be moved to other locations if accessibility is an issue.
