McDonald's global same-store sales were up 3.1% in 2012 despite a flat fourth quarter, but chief executive Don Thompson promised that the company would be more aggressive in the face of the economy. "Growth in the informal eating-out industry has been relatively flat to declining around the world and we expect that to continue," he said. The company plans to introduce Fish McBites this year, among other new products, and will concentrate on the Dollar Menu as a driver of sales.
