Declan Ryan, a former director of Ryanair, has invested in an Irish firm that plans to make biofuel from algae. Aer Bio, based in Dublin, creates enzymes for biofuel production. Ryan also serves as the chairman of Irelandia Aviation.
Dan Garton, president and CEO of American Eagle, told employees Thursday that the carrier "is on track to achieve our own business plan, which projects the replacement of our smaller jets with larger equipment." Parent company AMR Corp. recently selected Republic Airlines to operate some regional flights from Chicago.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it is continuing to review the 787 Dreamliner's design and assembly. "Boeing spokeswoman Lori Gunter on Sunday said the 787 had 'the most rigorous test program in Boeing's history and the most robust certification program ever conducted' by the FAA," this feature says.
