Responding to changes in New York's accountability system, the Massapequa School District in Massapequa, N.Y., reorganized its special-education program this year to make it more inclusive for students with disabilities. School officials recounted some of the top changes at a recent school board meeting. For example, the district has implemented a co-teaching model for elementary students and a tiered-learning support model. Self-contained classes also have been moved from a central location to multiple neighborhood schools.
