The government in South Korea has put limits on the operating hours of warehouse-style stores in a bid to protect small merchants. The rules, which are already in place in some cities including Seoul and have been the subject of court challenges by retail chains, require the big stores to limit their hours to 10 a.m. to midnight and to close two Sundays per month.
