The State Board of Education in South Carolina has approved a plan to waive classroom and driving supervision requirements to allow out-of-state bus drivers to be temporarily licensed in the state. The decision was made amid potential strikes by school bus drivers in two districts, where the drivers are at odds with their union over pay, health insurance and other concerns. The emergency regulation will remain in place for 90 days and mandates that drivers be licensed in another state, among other requirements.
