Babcock & Wilcox and Westinghouse Electric are partnering for the development of small modular reactors in the U.S., observers say. B&W has teamed up with the Tennessee Valley Authority and Bechtel for the construction and commercialization of the units. Westinghouse is constructing eight AP1000 reactors worldwide, and its know-how "will speed the Westinghouse SMR to market with less cost and better economics," said Kate Jackson, chief technology officer and senior vice president of research and technology.
