Firefighters in Wausau, Wis., are paramedics and now they will add Tactical Emergency Medical Specialist training to their arsenal, so they can accompany SWAT teams and provide immediate medical care during SWAT situations. EMS Division Chief Joshua Finke said the training is a response to the Newtown, Conn., school shootings and will allow paramedics to be right behind SWAT team members at the scene so they are ready to help victims.
