LG Electronics has acquired the webOS source code and related assets from Hewlett-Packard and plans to use the mobile operating system in its line of Internet-connected television sets. HP will retain ownership of the webOS patents, which it is licensing to LG. Financial terms of the deal weren't revealed. LG President Skott Ahn said of the agreement, "It creates a new path for LG to offer an intuitive user experience and Internet services across a range of consumer electronics devices."
