Teams of culinary students from Los Angeles recently competed in the Cooking up Change contest, in which they were asked to prepare healthy, tasty meals. Winners of the districtwide competition will go on to compete nationally and their dishes also will be included on school menus. Students who made the winning dish prepared "Tex-Mex Corn Bread and Black Bean Mountain," pears simmered with raisins and cinnamon, and cucumber rounds with vinaigrette and diced tomatoes.
