The Army would cut more than 200,000 of its 570,000 soldiers if sequestration goes into effect, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno said Friday at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. The Army plans to reduce its force size by 80,000 soldiers even if sequestration doesn't occur, but that number may be low given how costly it has become to train and equip soldiers, Odierno said.
