"Identity Thief," starring Jason Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman, took in $36.6 million at the box office this weekend. "Warm Bodies" took the second spot, earning $11.5 million, and "Side Effects" took the third spot on its opening weekend with $10 million.
Just four weeks after Delta Air Lines agreed to pay Singapore Airlines $360 million for a 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic Airways, Virgin Atlantic welcomed new CEO Craig Kreeger from the U.S. "There's now a shareholder with a significant strategic interest in what Virgin Atlantic brings them," said outgoing CEO Steve Ridgway. Of Kreeger, Ridgway said, "He brings a wealth of experience at American in dealing and working with British Airways. That's what we need because we've got to put together this North Atlantic joint venture now and there is a set of skills there that Virgin needs to have."
Some Southwest fliers aren't feeling too happy on their flights, saying the carrier is more concerned with money than service, this feature says. The airline has reduced legroom to fit more seats on many planes, forced fliers to spend more money as a part of its frequent flier program, and enacted new fees for early boarding. "Yes, we have to keep up with the times and, yes, we have to change," said Whitney Eichinger, a Southwest spokeswoman. "But the truth is that Southwest remains a maverick in the industry."
