Afghan leaders may increasingly base their decisions on anti-American sentiment as the U.S. withdraws from the region, which could put U.S. troops at risk by restricting their operations, says Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, chairman of a House Armed Services subcommittee. Afghan President Hamid Karzai's recent decision to end special forces operations in a strategically important province is an example of this trend, Thornberry said.
