The number of women business owners has increased significantly in recent years, but only a small percentage of Silicon Valley companies are launched by women, writes Shaherose Charania of Women 2.0. Changing that requires investment, education and mentoring, she argues, adding that it could help the economy, since research has found that startups with more women on their leadership teams tend to perform better.
