Connected technology is increasingly creeping into our lives through the proliferation of embedded sensors that are turning up in products as ubiquitous as shoes and watches, observers note. As a result, analysts say in the future consumers will confront many more services and ecosystems designed to analyze data and turn it into actionable intelligence. According to Gartner's Michael Gartenberg, so-called cognizant computing "evolves the connected device and personal cloud service into an activity of seamless and frictionless integration connected to sensor-driven 'invisible' devices that are optimized for a particular set of functions."
