Ethanol shipments at the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands declined in 2012, although biofuel cargo overall increased. The port handled 24% more biofuel cargo in 2012 than in 2011, but the throughput of ethanol fell by 17%, port officials said. The decrease in ethanol cargo is attributed to the reduction in imports from the U.S., which fell to 1.4 million metric tons in 2012 from 1.7 million in 2011 and 2 million in 2010.
