Great Wall Motors in China has succeeded by discovering the niche of selling small SUVs in a country where Volkswagen leads and sedans rule, writes Anita Chang Beattie. Sales of the Haval SUV rose 71% last year, according to Ries & Ries. "We focused our resources on creating Haval SUV products and pulled back on other products, losing sales in the short-term. But our main objective was to build long-term brand value," says Great Wall President Wang Fengying.
