A study by America's Health Insurance Plans found that increases in the prices of inpatient hospital care are contributing to rising health costs. Inpatient hospital care prices have gone up 8.2% annually from 2008 to 2010, and New York, Texas and Tennessee had the biggest annual increases among states. "To make health care coverage more affordable for consumers and employers, there needs to be a much greater focus on the underlying cost of medical care," AHIP President and CEO Karen Ignagni said.
