While the iPad has become the go-to device in education, several competitors -- including Google, Samsung, Lenovo, Dell and CDI -- now are seeking a share of the market. Google recently released a light-weight, lower-cost version of its Chromebook, which was geared toward education, and some Android tablets now are being built specifically for schools. Already, some districts have adopted the competitors' technology, but some say it will be tough to overcome Apple's dominance.
