Representatives from drugmakers, information technology firms, the Broad Institute and Harvard Medical School have formed the Lab IT Forum to develop a peer-to-peer, pre-competitive network with the goal of learning and deploying best practices to help researchers in science, quality assurance and manufacturing. "We're all competitors, but it doesn't mean we can't share best practices," said Mike Santimaw, head of specialist computing at AstraZeneca and the effort's organizer.
