New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's sugary drink ban extends beyond sodas to include large coffees, impacting independent coffee cafes in the city as well as franchises such as Dunkin' Donuts, McDonald's and Starbucks. The regulation states that sugar in coffee orders larger than 16 ounces cannot exceed three to five sugar packets, depending on the size of the drink. To help customers adjust, Dunkin' Donuts is offering "New N.Y.C. Regulations -- What They Mean for You" fliers to customers explaining which drinks will be downsized or desugared.
