The second annual United Opt Out National protest will start April 4 at the U.S. Education Department in Washington, D.C., drawing teachers, students, parents and others opposed to high-stakes standardized testing-based school reform, education reporter Valerie Strauss writes in this blog post. The four-day event, to feature a march to the White House, is expected to include education historian Diane Ravitch, Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis, veteran educator Deborah Meier and others.
