Some students who are gifted may be unidentified because of admissions criteria that requires students to earn high grade point averages, according to the findings from a University of Kansas research project. Researchers developed five categories of creative giftedness based on information about famous creative individuals. They then worked with schools in Kansas to identify students who met these criteria, finding that a third of the 485 Kansas teens they tested who fit the creative-gift profile were never evaluated for gifted programs because of low grades.
