Samsung Electronics gained a lot of publicity with this month's introduction of the high-end Galaxy S4 smartphone, but the company also has released seven smartphones for the low end of the market this year with less publicity, Yun-Hee Kim and Eric Bellman write. "We are quite active in the low-end smartphone market and we will continue to compete in this area," Samsung's J.K. Shin said in an interview. "In markets like Indonesia, consumers are switching from feature phones to smartphones and the low-end market is developing quickly."
