The U.S. State Department says it has issued a presidential permit to build a $2 billion six-lane bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario. The project "will create 10,000 construction jobs in Michigan, and will encourage the creation of permanent jobs that new business will bring," said Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich. Construction is expected to take seven years and be an "economic engine" for the region.
