The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will provide $218 million to 26 national, regional, state or hospital groups as part of the agency's public-private Partnership for Patients plan that will promote patient safety and reduce costs by curbing health care-acquired conditions. The groups will serve as Hospital Engagement Networks that will work to determine strategies and best practices and promote these measures to hospitals and doctors. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Innovation Center will provide $500 million to fund the Hospital Engagement Networks.
Whiterock Real Estate Investment Trust is buying two office properties for $218 million. It has signed binding agreements to acquire Sussex Centre, a two-tower office structure in Mississauga, Ontario, for $157 million and London City Centre, a two-tower office complex in London, Ontario, for $61 million.
Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT II has reached an agreement to buy a four-asset medical office portfolio for $44.05 million. The properties are part of a larger deal in which the REIT is acquiring a seven-building portfolio, called the Milestone MOB Portfolio, for $81.32 million.
