A panel of experts speaking during a session at the Hotel Equity and Lender Perspectives conference in Boston gave a positive long-term outlook for the hotel industry. Mark Woodworth, president of PKF Hospitality Research, predicts the next downturn may not occur until 2017. "We're looking at pretty attractive tailwinds. The fundamentals are incredibly solid," Woodworth said. However, the panelists noted several obstacles to growth in the short term, such as the government's budget sequester.
