The Transportation Department renewed its commitment to the improvement of U.S. transportation infrastructure with a new round of $474 million in TIGER funding for 2013, writes DOT Secretary Ray LaHood. The fifth installment of the funding program "will help increase mobility -- for people and for freight," LaHood noted. "The new and upgraded transportation facilities that will be built as a result will also strengthen our economic competitiveness and create jobs."
