Obtaining a better deal on Medicare's payments for prescription treatments provides more opportunity for smart savings, Families USA Executive Director Ron Pollack writes. Giving Medicare the power to negotiate for lower prices and allowing it to operate its own drug plan are two of the many ways to attain a better deal, Pollack writes. Passing additional costs on to people with disabilities and seniors is risky because approximately half of Medicare members can't afford to spend more on health care, Pollack writes.
