Scientists say NASA's Curiosity rover uncovered further evidence that the current atmosphere on Mars is just a shell, most of which has been lost in space. The rover analyzed levels of a variant of the gas argon and found that the atmosphere on Mars, which is only about 1% as thick as Earth's, is mostly exhausted. "We found arguably the clearest and most robust signature of atmospheric loss on Mars," said one investigator.
