One of the most common concerns is the effect expanded ethanol production would have on food prices. However, corn production per acre has doubled in the U.S., and the market has proved its ability to bounce back from small harvests. "And while close to 40% of the corn harvest is used for ethanol, a full one third of that is returned as distillers dry grain which is used for chicken feed," he writes.
