The U.S. lodging market had 320,750 rooms in its development pipeline in March, with a 19.3% increase in the number of rooms under construction compared with the same period last year, STR reports. "We expect supply growth pace will continue its measured acceleration and are forecasting a full-year 2013 net U.S. supply gain of about 1%," said Bobby Bowers, senior vice president of operations at STR. On a regional basis, the Asia-Pacific region had the most rooms in its pipeline, with 385,043 rooms in 1,788 hotel projects.
