Developing countries conducting scientific research are unprepared to adequately handle misconduct among the community, researchers say. Except for China, the emerging countries the researchers studied lack clear guidelines to deal with issues such as fabrication, plagiarism and falsified results. "This is very worrying," said study co-author Tracey Koehlmoos. "Developing countries need to be prepared to prevent suffering and atrocities that could come from poor research oversight."
