Lakeland-Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Fla., will host SUN 'n FUN's Fly Into Fall Weekend, Friday through Sunday. There will be a Saturday pancake breakfast, followed by demo flights and a cookout with Breezer Aircraft USA. World record holder, pilot and author Carol Ann Garratt will share her experience of circumnavigating the globe.
Attendance at the Sun 'n Fun fly-in and airshow in Lakeland, Fla., hit a record this year. "Our gate traffic for Friday alone was a record in the 38 years we've been putting on Sun 'n Fun," Sun 'n Fun President John Leenhouts said. The airshow for general aviation pilots and other pilots concluded Sunday.
The 38th Annual Sun 'n Fun Fly-In and Expo, which begins Tuesday and runs through April 1, will be a more child-friendly event this year. The Sun 'n Fun Splash-In for seaplanes and other amphibious aircraft will be held in Lakeland, Fla., this month. A Splash-In competition will be held March 29 at the Fantasy of Flight facility. Seaplane pilots will have the opportunity to compete in contests such as spot landing and water bombing.
The 36th annual Sun 'n Fun Fly-In opens tomorrow at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Fla. The Fly-In will feature B-52 bombers and C-17 cargo planes on display, and the Navy will bring an F-18 Hornet jet fighter to the show. The six-day event is expected to attract more than 160,000 visitors.
