The increasingly popular use of tablets may lead to the end of seatback devices for in-flight entertainment on aircraft. Southwest recently allowed passengers to stream live television to their tablets or other devices. "Not only did we save on the expense of installation and maintenance of seatbacks, but we're saving fuel by avoiding the added weight of the TV hardware," said Katie McDonald, a spokeswoman for Southwest.
