Restaurants can try to eliminate or at least cut down on no-shows in a few ways, starting with eliminating reservations altogether, a method that only works for small, popular eateries in markets where people don't mind the wait, restaurateurs say. Other solutions -- none of them perfect -- include overbooking, requiring credit card and contact information and tracking prior offenders and putting them on a "no reservations" list.
