The UK government is challenging in the European Court of Justice an effort in 11 euro-zone nations to tax financial transactions. British Chancellor George Osborne and others are concerned about the levy's extraterritorial nature. "This is a tax that will damage markets beyond the 11 states that are considering it, across Europe and also internationally," AFME CEO Simon Lewis said. "It will act as a brake on economic recovery by increasing costs to investors."
