Verizon Wireless sold 7.2 million smartphones in the first quarter, including 4 million iPhones, sales of which were about evenly split between the iPhone 5 and older models. Verizon also activated 5.9 million 4G Long-Term Evolution-based devices, which means 54% of its data traffic is now on the 4G LTE network. Separately, the carrier announced it is targeting 2014 to bring out its first voice-over-LTE handsets.
