Greg Walden, R-Ore., chairman of the House Communications and Technology subcommittee, in an NAB Show speech made a series of pledges to ensure the viability of broadcasting following the incentive spectrum auction. Among the keys to ensuring a "vibrant post-auction broadcast environment" will be to compel the Federal Communications Commission to keep coverage areas, work out border coverage with Mexico and Canada and generate enough proceeds to cover relocation costs and funding for the public safety network, he said.
