Halliburton was forced to make some last-minute changes to the cement mixture for plugging BP's Macondo well after the U.K. oil major rejected a recommendation to run additional stabilizers into the well, Halliburton engineer Jesse Gagliano said during a civil trial over the 2010 oil spill. The mixture was stable when it was injected into the hole prior to the Deepwater Horizon rig blast, Gagliano said, but he altered the recipe when he learned that BP ran fewer stabilizers than proposed.
