Whole Foods is stretching to bring healthier food options to Detroit with its store set to open on June 5 in the city, a so-called "food desert" where the life expectancy is 12 years less than it is outside the city limits, co-CEO Walter Robb said Monday during a panel at the Milken Institute's Global Conference 2013. "We have a particular set of skills. We're going there to participate in the community," he said.
