More than 120 countries reached an agreement on stricter export controls for several chemicals and a phaseout of flame-retardant chemical hexabromocyclododecane. Chemicals that will fall under more stringent export controls include insecticide Azinphos-methyl, flame retardants PentaBDE and OctaBDE, and fabric protector PFOS. The Bromine Science & Environmental Forum, which includes Chemtura, Albemarle and ICL Industrial Products, supports the phaseout and is "committed to substituting HBCD with sustainable alternatives."
