Frank Kendall, the Defense Department's undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, announced the agency has identified 20 commercial EHR vendors that could develop modernized systems to replace its Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application. While stressing that DOD is seeking a modern, advanced commercial system that will satisfy its EHR needs, Kendall also said the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture, or VistA, could also be a potential replacement for the DOD EHR.
