The European Banking Authority has proposed improving safeguards on a certain type of securitised debt. The rules would outline how the market is supervised and would require sellers to keep a portion of the issue. "Several senior policymakers have reiterated their support for securitisation, but it is crucial that these high-level expressions of support are translated into sensibly calibrated, evidence-based regulation on the ground," said Rick Watson, head of capital markets at AFME.
