The El Rey Network, the new English-language cable network aimed at young Latinos being created by director Robert Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures, is looking to go on the air by mid-December. The startup, which will be carried by Comcast as part of its diversity commitment when it took over NBCUniversal, has added Univision as an equity partner. The latter will take care of back-office operations, sales and distribution. El Rey also has brought in ex-Hearst Entertainment executive Scott Sassa as vice chairman to oversee daily operations.
