ESPN welcomes competition from NBC, CBS and Fox, all of which are pushing new 24-hour sports channels, according to President John Skipper. Among the changes announced at ESPN's upfront are a high-tech studio for its flagship "SportsCenter" and a related mobile application, as well as new NFL- and soccer-themed studio shows. The network also is in talks to take over the top matches of the U.S. Open tennis tournament from CBS in 2015. "We at ESPN like competition. It makes us better. It makes us sharper," Skipper said.
